BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION: $1,700 AND COUNTING

Carney-Nadeau has been a participant in the Box Tops for Education school fund-raising program since 2002.  Since then, the school has raised over $1,700 in extra funds that have been used for a variety of school improvements:  new playground equipment, new water bubblers, and benches and picnic tables in the playground area.  The program works because of the supportive community.  Parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors have been cutting the little red and white “Box Tops for Education” coupon from a wide variety of products from General Mills and sending them to us.  Each coupon is worth ten cents.  Included are the following brands: General Mills cereal, Betty Crocker snacks, Pillsbury baking products, Yoplait dairy products, Ziploc bags or containers, Kleenex, Cottonelle, Huggies and Hefty paper products.

Another way family and friends can help the school raise extra funds for our elementary kids is by shopping on-line.  It is easy as 1,2,3.

1.  Sign up to support Carney-Nadeau School at the Box Tops website (www.btfe.com).  It’s fast and it’s free.

2.  Then browse through the 100+ participating stores.  Search for whatever you want to buy and shop online just as you normally would.

3.  Carney-Nadeau can earn up to 15% cash back each year.

With all the financial difficulties schools are facing today, every little bit of extra cash really helps!  We have collected $640 worth of Box Top coupons so far this year.  Please keep these coupons coming in; they really help.  Thank you so much to all who have helped in the past eight years!

HI-Q NEWS

by Jay Brand

The Hi-Q Team was pleased with their success in the last competition of the year.  Seated are Issac Erickson, Kevin Lowry,  Devon Brand, and Olivia Dziedzic.  Standing are Clay Hollingshead and Chelsey Chenard-Powell.  Many thanks to Jay Brand for his fourth year as Hi Q coach!

The 2010 HI-Q season ended on a successful note when the Carney-Nadeau team traveled to Gillette, Wisconsin on March 2nd for a meet with the host school and Menominee.  The Maroons were in the running for a return trip to the HI-Q tournament later this month while the Gillette Tigers were ahead of the Wolves in the regular season points total.  However, the Wolves put together their best game of the season to cruise past Gillette while pushing Menominee for most of the match before succumbing to the more experienced Maroons.  The final score read Gillette-17, Carney-28, and Menominee-34.  The 28 points put up by the Wolves was the second highest score ever recorded by a CN team and moved them up in the season points total from 17th place to 11th place overall.  Sadly, the season ended as the Wolves were gaining momentum, but their success will keep them hungry for next year.  A consolation lunch at Appleby’s in Marinette followed while good times and memories were shared among the players.  Team players include Seniors Olivia Dziedzic and Chelsey Chenard-Powell, Juniors Issac Erickson and Clay Hollingshead, and Freshmen Kevin Lowry and Devon Brand.  Jay Brand coaches the HI-Q team.
